About
The Presbytery of South Louisiana, its member churches, and Presbyterian Disaster Assistance are working in partnership with other faith-based and non-profit rebuilding organizations across South Louisiana to rebuild homes, lives, and communities.
Rebuilding Homes
The homeowners served by these ministries have low incomes, and they do not have enough funds from insurance or other sources to rebuild without assistance. Volunteer labor and donations for building materials help close the gap between needs and available resources.
Transforming Lives
Hopes are restored, spirits are lifted, and hearts are filled with gratitude as home rebuilding becomes a reality. The homeowners’ and volunteers’ lives are transformed by one another as they work together in a tangible expression of faith.
Restoring Communities
To rebuild a house is not just about bringing one family home. It is about bringing that family back into their community—to their school, workplace, neighborhood, church, friends, and family. The community at large benefits from the returning people and improved neighborhoods.
Four Presbyterian volunteer centers across the Presbytery of South Louisiana are helping to rebuild homes damaged by the 2005 and 2008 hurricanes.
